Asset is a UPnP (DLNA compatible) audio server, UPnP is a method of sharing media content between devices. Typically audio files are stored on a computer, server or NAS, multiple audio devices around the home network can play audio from the UPnP server (devices such as Linn DS, XBox 360, PS3, etc). I picked up Asset UPnP back in 2009 when I was trying desperately to figure out how to get iTunes music to play natively in Windows Media Center. Asset UPnP is a DLNA-compatible music streamer that can play pretty much any music format. It does a great job transcoding and seems to work well with every front-end device I throw at it. I have it running on my Megaplex Server.

Asset UPnP – A serious contender for the crown, almost twice the price of Twonky though. E mby – Full DLNA search functionality would of crowned Emby a clear winner scoring 5 stars.
